ISRO is all set to launch the BlueBird Block-2 satellite using its powerful LVM3-M6 rocket on Christmas Eve.
ISRO’s LVM3-M6 Rocket
ISRO’s LVM3, also known as the ‘Bahubali’ rocket, is India’s most powerful launch vehicle. It features a three-stage design: two solid strap-on motors (S200), a liquid core stage (L110), and a cryogenic upper stage (C25).
The LVM3 has successfully launched Chandrayaan-2, Chandrayaan-3, and OneWeb satellites in the past.
All About BlueBird Block-2 Satellite
The BlueBird Block-2 satellite is designed to bring space-based cellular broadband connectivity to mobile phones.
This satellite, with a massive 223-square-meter phased array, will be launched in Low-Earth Orbit (LEO). It aims to provide 4G and 5G voice, video calls, messages, and internet data to smartphones, helping connect remote areas worldwide, without needing ground-based infrastructure.
