Car Blast Near Islamabad High Court
The car was parked near the Islamabad High Court when it exploded. According to media reports, it appears that the CNG tank of the vehicle burst. Reports suggest that the cylinder explosion led to the death of six people and injured nearly twelve others.
The explosion occurred around 12:30 p.m. The blast site was surrounded by a crowd of bystanders, and chaos ensued in the vicinity following the explosion.
Investigation Underway
The incident is being analyzed from all possible angles. Earlier, Delhi had witnessed a similar blast where a vehicle exploded right in front of the Red Fort in the evening. The investigation into that case has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Political Turmoil in Pakistan
Earlier, Pakistan’s government had introduced a major constitutional change that had sparked widespread debate and protests across the country. The proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment, which is yet to be voted on, aims to restructure the military’s chain of command and overhaul the judiciary, prompting strong criticism from the opposition.
The move is being compared to the decisions taken during the era of General Zia-ul-Haq, Pakistan’s longest-serving de facto head of state. He was known for introducing constitutional changes to expand his control over the army. The new amendment risks placing the military once again at the center of Pakistan’s political structure.
