A medical emergency forced an Iraqi Airways flight coming from Baghdad to take an unscheduled landing at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport on Thursday, September 26 The Iraqi Airways flight, IA-473, with 100 passengers and 15 crew members on board, diverted about 30 minutes before landing due to the illness of a 16-year-old Iraqi girl, Deran Samir Ahmed.
Forced Landing And Medical Attention
The plane made an emergency landing at around 10:18 PM and an APHO and a team of medical personnel were sent to the airsick passenger. Despite that, the medical staff could not detect any pulse or heart rate. The girl was directed to the nearest hospital where she was dead.
Hospitalization And Examination
The girl and her two other co-passengers were taken off after some formalities were made. They were shifted to a private hospital through an AAI ambulance. Later, Charnock Hospital confirmed that Deran was declared dead within half an hour of her admission. The girl belonged to the Sar Chinar police station area in Baghdad. She was traveling with her family.
Police Steps And Family Informed
It was an unnatural death case, and was lodged at the Baguiati police station by the complaint lodged by the doctor at the hospital. The girl’s body was taken to the post-mortem room along with the investigation further.
The police also are trying to reach the family of the girl. However, there was some language problem also, as her relatives could not utter even a single word in English.
Final Preparations
After the completion of all the formalities, the authorities said that the body of the Iraqi girl will be handed over to her family. The NOC for carrying back the body to Iraq has to come from the NSCBI police station. Police said that in connection with this issue, they are in touch with the Iraqi Embassy in Delhi.
