IPS Ravi Sinha appoints as R&AW chief

New Delhi: Ravi Sinha, a senior IPS officer of Chhattisgarh cadre Monday appointed as the new Research and Analytical Wing (R&AW) chief.

R&AW is India’s External Intelligence Research wing. As per official information, Sinha will replace incumbent Samant Kurnar Goyal upon completion of his tenure on June 30. Ravi’s tenure will be of 2 years.

Sinha, a 1988 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, is currently serving as Special Secretary in Cabinet Secretariat. The order said that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment of Sinha as Secretary, RAW, for a tenure of two years. The present Chief Samant Goyal is also an IPS of Punjab Cadre.
