On Sunday, the Haryana government announced a 24-hour suspension of mobile internet and bulk SMS services in Nuh district in preparation for the Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra, following last year’s violent incidents.
According to an order from Haryana Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Anurag Rastogi, internet services in the district will be suspended from 6 PM on Sunday to 6 PM on Monday.

The suspension order was issued “to prevent the spread of misinformation and rumors” via social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, and Twitter. In response, the Nuh Police have implemented stringent security measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the Yatra.

On July 31 last year, violence erupted in Haryana’s Nuh district when a mob attempted to halt a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession, resulting in the deaths of two home guards and injuries to at least 15 others, including several policemen. The same night, a mosque in Gurugram was attacked, leading to the death of its naib imam.
Following these incidents, at least five people were killed and many others were injured in the ensuing interfaith clashes.
