International Women’s Day 2025 LIVE: Today is the time to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions women have made in various spheres of life. While women deserve recognition every day of the year, International Women’s Day provides the best opportunity to raise awareness about equality and promote empowerment.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a roadshow in Surat as part of his visit to his home state, Gujarat. He will be traveling to Gujarat’s Navsari district on March 8 to attend the ‘Lakhpati Didi Sammelan’ and disburse over Rs 450 crore in financial assistance to over 2.5 lakh women from over 25,000 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across the state, according to an official release.
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami greeted the people of the state, noting women’s power, on the occasion of International Women’s Day. He said that without the cooperation of women, the complete development of any society or nation cannot take place. Shakti is worshipped in Indian culture; women are also a guide and source of inspiration in society. The Chief Minister said that the state government had made provision for a 30 percent reservation for women in government jobs and a 33 percent reservation for women in Uttarakhand cooperative societies. So far, 1 lakh Lakhpati Didi has been made in the state.

On International Women's Day, Former LG of Puducherry, Kiran Bedi said, "Parents should thank the almighty that a daughter was born in their house. Until parents do not consider their daughter as a gift from God, daughters will remain weak. They should be considered a blessing and not a burden... When parents start considering daughters as a blessing, their upbringing will also be good. When the upbringing is good, then the foundation will be formed, when the foundation is formed, her character will be formed. She will start becoming brave and will also serve her parents."

Gujarat: At Lakhpati Didi Sammelan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Whether it is politics or sports field, judiciary or police, women are flying the flag in every field and dimension of the country. Since 2014, the participation of women in important positions in the country has increased rapidly. Since 2014, the highest number of women have become ministers in the central government and there has been a big increase in the presence of women in Parliament as well..."

On the occasion of International Women's Day, at ‘Lakhpati Didi Sammelan’, Punita Gadariya said, "We have 129 types of handmade and homemade, chemical free beauty products that are used in daily life. Our production got a huge boost due to the government's support. We got marketing support from Saras Mela, Vibrant Gujarat, and our products became popular in the whole country. Now, we are going to be a part of Lakhpati Didi."
