According to sources, the Special Operation Group (SOG) initiated a cordon and search operation following specific intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area. As the SOG intensified their search towards the suspected location, the hiding terrorists opened fire, leading to the current confrontation.

In a noteworthy development, Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief Nalin Prabhat has arrived at the operational area to personally oversee the anti-terrorist operations. This marks a significant moment in the ongoing fight against terrorism, as it is the first time a DGP rank officer is on the ground leading such efforts.

The encounter comes after a prolonged period of relative peace in Jammu, making it all the more significant. The ongoing gunfight is taking place just 5 kilometers from the International Border, prompting additional troop reinforcements to rush to the scene and secure the area.
