IndiGo Flights Status LIVE: On Friday, IndiGo Airlines cancelled over 1,000 flights across the country. This has made the airline a worst affected day for the airline. Delhi saw the suspension of all departure flights. It took this step to reset its systems and prevent more delays from building up and affecting other flights. It cancelled all its domestic flights from Chennai airport and all flights from Bengaluru to Delhi and Mumbai for the entire day.
As airfares on flights from other airlines skyrocketed with IndiGo passengers trying to make alternative arrangements, SpiceJet added seven flights on Friday (December 5) to destinations like Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata, and 17 flights on Saturday (December 6).
Passengers Stranded at airports
With the mass cancellation of flights by IndiGo and fares of other airlines skyrocketing, thousands of passengers stranded at airports across the country are heading to nearby railway stations to catch trains to their destinations.
Railways announces special trains
Due to Indigo flight cancellations, the Railways have announced the operation of special trains. 116 additional coaches have been added to trains on several routes. Western Railways has decided to run a superfast special train between Sabarmati and Delhi Junction at a special fare.
