A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight, carrying 151 passengers, including Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav, aborted takeoff after failing to lift off at Lucknow Airport. A major tragedy was averted on Saturday, September 13, during a high-speed run when flight 6E2111 neared the end of the runway. The pilot avoided the close call by swiftly applying emergency brakes to bring the plane to a stop.
As the flight struggled to lift off, the Passengers experienced a panic moment. Aviation officials later praised the pilot’s presence of mind, and all on board were deplaned safely. The passengers were moved to a different flight to proceed to their destination.
IndiGo has not yet made an official statement regarding the incident. According to eyewitnesses, tense moments followed after the aircraft came to a sudden halt.
Last month, a Dubai-bound IndiGo flight from Surat was diverted to Ahmedabad after facing a technical glitch. An airport official said the flight took off from Surat at 9:30 am on August 28 and, after being diverted, it landed at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 11 am.
“Due to some technical issues mid-air, the Surat-Dubai IndiGo flight was diverted to Ahmedabad. It safely landed at the airport at around 11.40 am with nearly 150 passengers. It was not an emergency landing,” PTI quoted the official of the SVPI airport as saying.
