IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers visited Maha Kumbh Mela on 26 January and called his experience an inexplicable moment of peace in the chaos. Elbers shared about his visit in a post on LinkedIn. He called the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, the largest gathering of mankind on planet Earth. He wrote, “45 Crores…450 million visitors in only 45 days. The sheer scale is impossible to grasp… similar to Europe’s population and more than USA.”

His post read as, “This weekend, on Republic Day I was at the Maha Kumbh Mela, celebrating the confluence of India’s culture, spirituality and heritage.” Elbers said that no, word or sentence can perfectly describe this place or the vibrant energy that it exudes.
He took holy dip at 5 am in the morning amid chants and prayers. Elbers added, “No word, sentence or picture can properly describe this place or the energy. I took the holy early morning dip at 5am in the sacred confluence of rivers, the holy Sangam with about a million at the same time, surrounded by chants, prayers, devotion and the unity of humanity. Found an inexplicable moment of peace in the chaos.”
He further said that he is humbled and grateful to be a part of something so divine and a moment that he will cherish forever. “Humbled and grateful to be a part of something so divine, once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will cherish forever,” added Elbers.
Elbers also appreciated IndiGo airline for their outstanding work at the Prayagraj airport during Maha Kumbh. He wrote, “Thanks IndiGo (InterGlobe Aviation Ltd) team at Prayagraj airport for the outstanding work in such busy times.”
