Incessant rains in Delhi and its surrounding areas on Monday disrupted the travel environment in the city. Meanwhile, major airlines like IndiGo, Air India, Akasa Air and SpiceJet issued official travel instructions for people traveling in Delhi (NCR) and Gurugram.
According to a Mint report, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued an orange alert for Delhi, Faridabad, Noida and Gurugram till 5:45 pm on Monday. At the same time, according to the same report, the IMD has also issued an orange alert for Gurugram and Faridabad on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, while no new alert has been given for Delhi.
IndiGo’s advice
The country’s largest airline IndiGo has expressed concern over the poor condition of roads in Delhi due to waterlogging and low visibility and has requested passengers to leave for the airport early and check the status of their flight.
IndiGo wrote on X, “Heavy rainfall continues across Delhi, and road conditions remain slow in several parts of the city. Waterlogging and low visibility are being reported on some routes to the airport.”

Air India’s advisory
Air India also expressed similar concerns and informed passengers that flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport may be affected due to the weather.
Air India wrote on X, “Rain may impact flight operations to and from Delhi today.” They requested passengers to confirm their flight schedules.
Akasa Air’s advisory
Akasa Air extended its advisory beyond Delhi as well, saying that due to the rain, traffic jams and delays are likely in Delhi as well as Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
Akasa said, “Due to heavy rainfall in certain parts of Delhi, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad, we anticipate slow-moving traffic and congestion on roads leading to the airport.” Passengers were urged to allow extra time to reach the airport and apologised for the inconvenience.

Amid waterlogging and slow-moving traffic on Monday, this advice proved to be an important warning for travellers and commuters: The skies may be clear but the roads may not.
