New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs on Saturday issued an advisory cautioning Indian youths against fake job rackets offering lucrative jobs by dubious IT firms in Thailand.
In a statement, the MEA said: Instances of fake job rackets offering lucrative jobs to entice Indian youths for the posts of ‘Digital Sales and Marketing Executives’ in Thailand by dubious IT firms involved in call-centre scam and crypto-currency fraud have come to our notice recently by our Missions in Bangkok and Myanmar.

The ministry said that target groups are IT skilled youth who are duped in the name of lucrative data entry jobs in Thailand through social media advertisements as well as by Dubai and India based agents.
Victims held captive to work under harsh conditions – MEA
According to the foreign ministry, victims are reportedly taken across the border illegally mostly into Myanmar and held captive to work under harsh conditions.
Therefore, Indian nationals are advised not to get entrapped in such fake job offers being floated through social media platforms or other sources, the statement said.
Before travelling on tourist/visit visa for employment purposes, the MEA advised Indian nationals, to check/verify credentials of foreign employers through concerned Missions abroad, and antecedents of recruiti adng agents as well as any company before taking up any job offer.
Video of Indians held captive received by MEA
Recently, a video of Indians held captive and forced to do illegal work came to the notice of the Ministry of External Affairs.
In the video sent by a Tamil Nadu youth, some people recognizing themselves as Indian said that we are trapped in Thailand.
After the video surfaced on the internet, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin wrote a letter to PM Modi seeking the intervention of the Ministry of External Affairs in the matter. Since then, 30 Indians have been saved from being trapped in the fake job case.
