The Indian Navy's mission-deployed platforms showcased remarkable agility and promptness when faced with a distress call from the Malta-flagged vessel MV Ruen, signalling a hijacking incident in the Arabian Sea. With 18 crew members aboard, the vessel issued a Mayday message on the UKMTO portal on December 14, 2023, indicating unauthorized boarding by approximately six unknown individuals.
Responding to the urgent situation, the Indian Navy swiftly diverted its Naval Maritime Patrol aircraft, actively engaged in surveillance within the region, along with a warship dedicated to Anti-Piracy patrol in the Gulf of Aden.
