In a new development, following disengagement between India and China, Indian troops have started patrolling in Demchok sector in Eastern Ladakh on Friday. This action comes after India and China agreed to disengage and start coordinated patrols as per their perception of the Line of Actual Control in the Demchok and Depsang sectors.
Indian Army sources said, patrolling by Indian troops in the Demchok sector in Eastern Ladakh has started today and patrolling in the Depsang sector is expected to start soon. The coordinated patrolling would mean that both sides will know about the schedules of patrols or both sides.
Earlier on Thursday, on occasion of Diwali, Armies of both the countries exchanged sweets at various border points in the Ladakh sector. The exchange of sweets between Indian and Chinese Army took place at Hot Springs, Karakoram Pass, Daulat Beg Oldi, KongkLa and Chushul-Moldo border meeting point in Ladakh.

Ladakh MP Welcomes Disengagement
Ladakh MP Haji Hanifa welcomed the disengagement between the Indian and Chinese armies along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. Speaking to ANI, he said, “People like us who live near the border know what a war is like. We want peace along the border. We welcome the agreement between the two countries but we want it to be implemented on the ground also…We want tensions along the border to be reduced through diplomacy.”

Rajnath Singh On Disengagement
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday had informed that India and China have reached to broad consensus to restore ground situation along Line of Actual Control (LAC). He informed about the diplomatic and military level talks that took place between both the countries to resolve conflicts in some areas. He added that following this talk, to restore situation on ground, India and China have now agreed to broad consensus. This consensus has been developed on the basis of equal and mutual security. This agreement includes the rights of patrolling and grazing in traditional areas.
Chinese Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong had also stressed on solving the differences between both the countries. He said that it was natural for India and China to have differences as neighbouring countries but the important thing is how to handle and solve these differences.
