Indian Railways to Play Chhath Songs at Stations, Devotional Music to Ring Through Patna, Danapur, Hajipur and New Delhi

One of the most revered and vibrant festivals, Chhath Puja is celebrated in parts of India and Nepal. This year, Chhath Puja will be observed from October 25 to 28.

In a move to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja with great fervour, Indian Railways has decided to broadcast Chhath songs at railway stations across the country. The initiative aims to connect passengers with the spirit of the Chhath festival and make their journey more pleasant. One of the most revered and vibrant festivals, Chhath Puja is celebrated in parts of India and Nepal. The festival is dedicated to worshipping Lord Surya, the Sun God, and Chhathi Maiya.

Indian Railways to Play Chhath Songs at Stations

Indian railways noted that at major stations such as Patna, Danapur, Hajipur, Bhagalpur, Jamalpur, Sonpur, New Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Anand Vihar Terminal, the devotional songs are creating a sense of home and tradition, filling passengers’ hearts with devotion and joy. The move is a part of Indian Railway’s efforts to make this festive season memorable and comfortable for everyone.

“Indian Railways to broadcasting Chhath songs at railway stations on the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja. This initiative aims to connect passengers with the auspicious spirit of the festival and make their journey more pleasant. At major stations like Patna, Danapur, Hajipur, Bhagalpur, Jamalpur, Sonpur, New Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Anand Vihar Terminal, these songs are giving passengers a sense of home and culture, infusing their journey with devotion and joy,” the statement from Indian Railways noted.

Special Puja Trains

Apart from this, the railways is running several special puja trains from different divisions to manage the festive season rush. This year, Chhath Puja will be observed from October 25 to 28. The Ministry of Railways earlier noted that besides regular trains, 4,493 special train trips were made in the last 21 Days, averaging 213 trips daily, helping passengers reach home safely for ongoing festivities.

CPRO Northern Railways On Special Trains

CPRO, Northern Railways, Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay in conversation with ANI, stated that to manage the passengers’ crowd, the division is running more than 4,800 special trains. He added that extensive arrangements have been made to facilitate passenger’s travel and enhance their experience.

“There is a lot of crowd during Chhath festival and this time there are also Bihar elections. People are going in greater numbers this time compared to last time. Keeping this in mind, Northern Railway operated 3,800 special trains during the festival season last year. This time we are running more than 4,800 special trains. Around 9,000 special trains were run last time, but this time more than 12,000 special trains are being operated. Extensive arrangements have been made at the stations. There are many facilities here. Mini control rooms have been set up at every important station,” Upadhyay stated.
