Indian Railways recently increased passenger train fares, and the new revised prices will be applicable from December 26th. Railways has now brought further clarity as to which passenger trains will witness the new fare prices.
Tickets to remain the same for these trains: There is no change in the single-ticket price for suburban trains. There is also no change in all types of season tickets, both suburban and non-suburban.
Changes for Ordinary Non-AC Trains
Changes will also be applicable on these trains:
The same class-wise hike will also be applicable in other special trains, including Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Vande Bharat, Tejas, Humsafar, Amrit Bharat, Garib Rath, Jan Shatabdi, Antyodaya, Gatiman, Yuva Express, and Namo Bharat Rapid Rail.
Ordinary (Non-AC) Trains:
- Second Class Ordinary:
- Up to 215 km: No change
- 216–750 km: ₹5 increase
- 751–1250 km: ₹10 increase
- 1251–1750 km: ₹15 increase
- 1751–2250 km: ₹20 increase
- Up to 215 km: No change
- Sleeper Class: 1 paisa per km increase
- First Class (Ordinary): 1 paisa per km increase
Mail/Express (Non-AC) Trains:
- Second class, Sleeper, and First Class: 2 paise per km increase
AC Classes:
- AC Chair Car, AC 3 Tier / 3E, AC 2 Tier, AC First Class / Executive Class: 2 paise per km increase
Applicability:
- The same class-wise fare hike will also apply to special trains such as Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Vande Bharat, Tejas, Humsafar, Amrit Bharat, Garib Rath, Jan Shatabdi, Antyodaya, Gatiman, and Yuva Express.
Important Notes:
- No changes in reservation fees, superfast charges, etc.
- GST remains unchanged
- Fares will continue to be rounded off as before
- New fares will not apply to tickets booked before December 26, 2025
- Tickets booked by TTE after December 26, 2025, will be charged at the new rates
Information & Arrangements:
- Updated fare lists will be displayed at stations
- PRS, UTS, and manual ticketing systems will reflect the changes
- Railway staff will receive advance instructions regarding the fare updates
