New Delhi: On the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, the Indian security forces prevented an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch area. As many as 2 infiltrators were killed in the operation, informed officials.
“Operation Bahadur #Poonch Sector. Major Infiltration Bid Eliminated in a joint operation by #IndianArmy & @JmuKmrPolice during the night of 17 Jul 23 in Poonch Sector. Two infiltrators have been eliminated. Search operations are in Progress,” wrote Nagrota-based White Knight Corps on its Twitter handle.
Earleir on July 10, the Indian Army foiled another such incident where it stopped a major infiltration operation along the LoC in the Nowshera sector in adjoining Rajouri district. The army gunned down the terrorist and recovered arms and ammunitions.
The Army officials have informed that the number intrusion incidents from Pakistan has been surged along the Indo-Pak borders in Jammu and Kashmir since the annual Amarnath pilgrimage began on July 1.
Meanwhile, Intelligence agencies have cautioned that Pakistan-based terrorists may launch an attack at pilgrims.
It is worth noting that eight Central Reserve Armed Forces (CRPF) personnel on Sunday were injured while they were enrouted to the Amarnath pilgrimage in an accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sonmargh district.
