New Delhi: The Indian coast guard on Thursday rescued a government of India research vessel, carrying 28 crew and 8 scientists, stuck in the sea due to technical issues.
The vessel was stranded between Goa and Karwar. As per reports, all 36 people are safe and the Indian coast guard is bringing back the ship.
DIG Coast Guard KL Arun informed that the research vessel was declared distressed around 3 pm yesterday and our first rescue ship reached there by 5 pm.
The research vessel declared distress after having a total blackout. Coast Guard’s second rescue reached the spot by night, said DIG.
“There’s a rescue operation going on, it’s a government of India research vessel… This Vessel yesterday around 3 pm declared distress that it is not having any propulsion and had a total power blackout, so immediately we dispatched our ships the first ship reached by 5 pm, and the second one reached by night. It is a very important national asset as it is a research vessel…,” says DIG Coast Guard KL Arun.

The vessel Sindhu Sadhana was a strategic research ship carrying scientists and other crew members. It stuck nearly 20 nautical miles from the land when the coast guard received the distress message.
