Indian Army: The Indian Army is set to part away with colonial-era practices like using horse-driven buggies in official functions, using pipe bands, and pulling out ceremonies on retirement.
Indian Army issued instructions to units to discontinue the use of buggies, pipe bands during dinner nights, and pulling out ceremonies from now onwards.
As per the direction of the Government of India, Indian Army is reviewing British colonial era legacy practices like customs and traditions, regulations, laws, policies, unit establishment, institutes of the colonial past, etc.

According to a report by News Agency ANI, Government is working to end colonial traces. English Names of some units, establishments, roads, parks, and Kitchener House are under review and action has already been taken in many cases.
A document released by the Indian Army said that the use of buggies for official ceremonial functions will be seized, and the horses used for ceremonies would be made available for training purposes only.
Army Chief Gen Manoj Pandey has initiated the steps to end these legacies. As per the report, PM Modi has directed to do so.
