India will host the 2025 Quad Summit, where newly-elected US President Donald Trump is expected to attend, according to officials. The summit, originally planned for September in New Delhi, was held in New York due to scheduling conflicts among the leaders.
Scheduling Shift to New York
In September, Mira Rapp-Hooper, Senior Director for East Asia and Oceania at the National Security Council, explained that hosting the summit in the US allowed the Quad leaders—India, the United States, Japan, and Australia, to align their schedules effectively. “It became increasingly clear that the best way to ensure they met and had the time needed for discussions was to hold it here in the US this year,” she stated.

India to Host Quad in 2025
India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that India would host the 2025 Quad Summit after a request from the US to host this year. “Following the US’s request to host the Quad Summit in 2023, India agreed to host the next summit in 2025,” the MEA noted.

In the recent Quad Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the US from September 21 for three days, meeting several global leaders, including the outgoing US President Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
