India has slipped to the 85th rank in the 2025 Henley Passport Index. The country now offers visa-free access to 57 destinations. Last year, India was ranked 80th, with visa-free access to 62 destinations.
Singapore retained its top position, offering visa-free access to 193 countries. South Korea holds the second spot on the list, allowing entry to 189 nations without a visa, while Japan ranks third, also providing visa-free access to 189 countries.
The fourth spot is shared by Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain, and Switzerland, whose passports allow travel to 188 destinations. The fifth rank is shared by Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, and the Netherlands, whose citizens can visit 187 countries without a visa.
Hungary, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, and Sweden share the sixth spot, offering visa-free access to 186 countries, while Australia, Czechia, Malta, and Poland share the seventh spot, with access to 185 countries without a visa.
The United States passport is placed at the 12th spot, which it shares with Malaysia, allowing visa-free access to 180 countries. The United States has slipped for the first time from the list of the top ten.
India shares the 85th rank with Mauritania. Angola, Barbados, Bhutan, Bolivia, British Virgin Islands, Burundi, Cambodia, Indonesia, Iran, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Malaysia, Maldives, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand are a few nations that do not require a visa for Indian passport holders.
Bangladesh is ranked at the 100th spot, while Pakistan holds the 103rd place on the Henley Passport Index.
