India has raised its concerns over Turkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s recent comments over Kashmir while backing Pakistan’s narrative during his trip to the nation.
India has clarified that the Kashmir issue is bilateral and cannot be considered as an international matter. India warned Turkiye at a time when Pakistan was trying to gain Turkiye’s support on the issue.
Erdogan had recently visited Pakistan, and during his conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, he said, “ The Kashmir issue should be resolved through United Nations resolutions and We stood by our Kashmiri brothers.” India said Turkiye should not talk like Pakistan.
India has maintained that Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh are integral parts of India. Kashmir is a bilateral issue, and it cannot accept the notion of any third nation on the issue. Erdogan had pitched in favour of Pakistan in the past. Now, India has raised the issue with Ankara.
Experts say Erdogan has taken a U-turn on the issue. He did not react to the Kashmir issue as he was interested in entry into BRICS, but when he did not find interest as per his nation’s requirement, he again started backing Pakistan with such comments. Experts further say that Erdogan often takes U-turns on issues.
