India logs 20,408 new Covid-19 cases, 54 deaths in last 24 hours

New Delhi: India recorded 20,408 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 54 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours.  As per the latest data, the active cases declined to 1,43,384 today. The death toll has climbed to 5,26,312 the data updated at 8 am stated.

A decrease of 604 cases has been recorded in the active Covid-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. The active cases comprise 0.33 percent of the total infections, the ministry said. 

In India, the daily positivity rate is 5.05% while the weekly positivity rate is 4.92%, the ministry said.

Under the Covid-19 nationwide vaccination program, a total of 33,87,173 doses were administered in the last 24 hours. More than 203.94 crore vaccine jabs have been inoculated

The country has conducted over 87.48 crore covid tests till date whereas 4,04,399 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.

According to the health ministry data, the Centre has provided 195.08 crore vaccine doses to states and union territories. Over 7.09 crore balance and unutilized vaccine doses are still available with them, it said.
