India braces for another cyclone, IMD issues alerts for heavy rain, storms and cold wave – Check Delhi forecast

As winter intensifies, Delhi remains blanketed in toxic smog, with air quality levels in the ‘very poor’ category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi’s AQI on Saturday at 9 am was recorded at 360, which comes under ‘very poor’ category.

IMD Weather Alert: After cyclone Montha, another cyclone is expected to form in the coming days, posing potential risks to India’s coastal regions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning as a low-pressure area is expected to form over the South Andaman Sea on November 22. This system is likely to intensify into a depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal by November 24, potentially affecting coastal regions of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, as well as parts of Odisha, West Bengal, and northern Andhra Pradesh with heavy rainfall and strong winds.

If the circulation intensifies and forms into a cyclone, then it will be named ‘Senyar'. However, the IMD so far has not officially provided any update on this. Meanwhile, the northern India remains in grip of cold wave conditions, with the IMD issuing alert for West Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, November 22. Shallow to moderate fog has been predicted over northeast India during the week. Gradual rise in minimum temperature likely by 2-3°C over West and Central India is expected during next 2 days and no large change thereafter. Whereas, gradual fall in minimum temperature is likely by 2-4°C over northwest India during the week.

Fog grips northern states

With the onset of winter, foggy conditions have started to set in across parts of India. Moderate fog was observed at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya, while shallow fog was reported at a few locations in Punjab, Odisha, Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and West Madhya Pradesh. The lowest minimum temperature of 10.0°C was reported at Jeur in Maharashtra and the highest maximum temperature of 36.2°C at Karwar in Karnataka on Friday.

IMD Weather Alert: Rain forecast

The IMD has further predicted light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms are very likely at many places over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on November 22. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph are expected over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands today.

Delhi weather forecast

For Delhi, the IMD has predicted mainly clear sky with mist/haze during the night and Shallow fog during morning hours on Saturday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to remain 27°C and 10°C respectively. No specific weather warning has been issued for the national capital.
