Leaders of the INDIA bloc met on August 7 at the residence of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. The meeting has been organised amid heightened political tensions over alleged issues in the Bihar voter list revision, recent violence in Jammu and Kashmir, and a wave of criticism aimed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut outlined the key aspects that could be discussed.
As per Raut, the meeting will discuss the nuances of Operation Sindoor, the Pahalgam attack, and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar. The INDIA bloc has already raised concerns about the transparency and timing of the process, especially with state elections drawing near. KC Venugopal stated that the bloc is pushing for a parliamentary discussion on the issue.
So far, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, LOP Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, NCP-SCP chief Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, National Conference President Farooq Abdullah, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, DMK MP Tiruchi Siva, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee attended the meeting.
Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah attended the crucial meeting.
MNM chief & Rajya Sabha MP Kamal Haasan also participated in the INDIA bloc meeting.
On the meeting held at the residence of LoP Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP Rajani Patil stated that several important issues were discussed. Among them was the matter of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls in Bihar. She emphasised that this issue deserves serious attention and should be thoroughly discussed within Parliament to ensure transparency and fairness in the electoral process.

Congress MP Francis George also spoke about the meeting and said, “We had a meeting of the INDIA bloc. Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi had made a presentation about the SIR issue in Bihar, highlighting how widespread rigging and malpractices were done during the last Lok Sabha elections and the BJP secured a majority…We will expose the BJP in front of the public.”
