Independence Day 2025 Live Updates: Today, India celebrates the 79th Independence Day with full enthusiasm. On 15 August 1947, the Indian Act came into power after British rule. It is a day to honour the sacrifices of freedom fighters and reflect on the nation’s journey towards sovereignty and progress. Jawahar Lal Nehru was the first prime minister after Independence Day. The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, will address the nation from Red Fort for the 12th consecutive time after coming into power in 2014.
Celebrated with flag hoisting, parades, cultural programs, and patriotic displays, it fosters national pride and unity. We view Independence Day not just as a salute to the past, but as a call to act towards the future. It encourages citizens, and young citizens especially, to appreciate their history, to become engaged in building their nation, and to build a more just, equal, and prosperous country. We celebrate this day with pride and thankfulness. However, it is also a time to pledge commitment to the key ideas of freedom, equality, and unity that weave the fabric of our nation.
As Special Guests, 210 Panchayat leaders from 28 States and Union Territories will be in New Delhi on August 15th to celebrate Independence Day. According to the Akashvani correspondent, a substantial portion of this year’s Special Guests are female Panchayat officials who have made noticeable advancements in their Gram Panchayats, such as improved public services, inclusive community projects, and better infrastructure.
