Washington (US): White House COVID-19 Response Coordinator, Ashish Jha praised India’s capacity to provide vaccines during a press event at the White House on Wednesday. He described India’s capacity for producing vaccines as “amazing” while referring to India as a significant global exporter of vaccines.

In response to a query regarding how he felt India handled the COVID situation, Ashish Jha made the statement. Jha said, “India has been a big supplier of vaccines because of its great manufacturing capacity. The delay in India and the Quad partnership, where India was meant to produce the vaccinations and Quad was supposed to distribute them throughout the world, were also raised by the questioner.

Quad, commonly referred to as the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, is a strategic security conversation involving the United States, Australia, Japan, and India. Building supply chains and promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific are the key objectives of Quad.

“I haven’t given this much thought. My understanding of why it has slowed down somewhat is that there is less of a need for vaccinations globally since we have created so many vaccines, “said Jha.

“But I firmly believe that the Quad alliance is crucial, especially for this government. Not just for India, but also for the rest of the world, India is a significant vaccine manufacturer. It’s a tremendously crucial issue, “Added he.

Earlier in February, India’s ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, had stated that the US’s expertise in cutting-edge research and technology and India’s skills as the world’s largest vaccine maker could be merged to produce vaccines at a reasonable price.

He highlighted that vaccinating everyone in the world must be the top strategy to combat the epidemic, and he added that the world’s vaccination map shows that there are discrepancies, with underdeveloped nations like those in Africa behind at 10% or lower.
