IT raids on BBC: Income tax (IT) authorities raided the British Broadcasting Corporation’s offices in Delhi and Mumbai (BBC) on Tuesday. According to reports, the employees’ phones were confiscated and they were told to go home.
Meanwhile, the Congress party reacted to Income Tax authorities arriving at the BBC premises by claiming that the central government was targeting the BBC. It further stated that it was requesting a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) hearing on the Adani subject, but no hearing has been held.

Gaurav Gogoi of the Congress Party also tweeted, “PM Modi is dragging India into autocracy and tyranny at a time when India is presiding over the G-20 countries. BBC raids, a clean chit for Adani, tax cuts for the wealthy, people losing their homes, and inequality and unemployment are on the rise.”

Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mahua Moitra also said on Twitter, “Reports of Income Tax raid at BBC’s Delhi office Wow, really? How unexpected. Meanwhile, farsaan seva for Adani when he drops in for a chat with Chairman @SEBI_India office.”
