Patna: Ahead of its inuguration, a 206-metre-long bridge on Gandak river collpased on Sunday in Bihar’s Begusarai. A cost of Rs 13 Crore was invested in construction of the bridge.

In an incident, the front part of the bridge fell into the river, exposing the ill-construction. Earlier, a crack was noticed in the road and a letter was also written to the administration to bring it in notice.

However, no action was taken.

The bridge was built under the Chief Minister NABARD scheme. However, its inauguration was delayed due to the lack of access road.

The construction started in 2016 and completed within a year. There was no traffic on the bridge as it was not dedicated to the people yet, since their was no access road.

The bridge connected Aakriti Tola Chowki to Bishanpur from the Ahok Gandak Ghat side of the Sahebpur Kamal police station area.
