New Delhi: After 73 years of its establishment, the Supreme Court of India will celebrate its anniversary for the first time on February 4. Chief Justice of Singapore Justice Sundaresh Menon will join the event as cheif guest.

The justice will feature a lecture on the topic ‘role of judiciary in a changing world’. The apex court of India came into existence on 28 January 1950; two days after adopting the Constitution of the nation.

The news portal NDTV quoted a source at the top court saying that the idea of celebrating the anniversary was pitched in by the Chief Justice of India DY Chanrachud.

As per the report, the Singapore’s Chief Justice was invited as his origin is India and he has also agreed to attend the event.

The event will be broadcasted on social media for everyone to watch, especially the younger generation so they can learn more about the Judiaciary of India and its machenism.
