IMD Weather Update: Western Himalayan Region Set For Rain, Snowfall; Dense Fog & Cold Day Continue To Affect Several States

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts dense fog conditions during the night and early morning hours in isolated pockets of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim till today, January 26, 2025. Cold day conditions are predicted to prevail in a few pockets of Bihar till today, 26th January, IMD said.

IMD Weather Update: The weather patterns across India are currently experiencing changes due to western disturbances. Under its influence, the Western Himalayan Region is expected to receive isolated rainfall and snowfall on the 29th and 30th of January. Furthermore, dense fog and varying visibility continue to create challenges for daily life and travel. Visibility below 50 m was reported in isolated pockets of Odisha, Assam & Meghalaya and between 50 to 199 m in isolated pockets of Uttarakhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Tripura. Additionally, cold wave conditions also prevailed in isolated parts of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab.

Dense Fog Warning

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts dense fog conditions during the night and early morning hours in isolated pockets of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim till today, January 26, 2025. The ongoing foggy weather is also likely to engulf Bihar and Odisha from 26th to 28th January. Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura will experience dense fog until tomorrow.

Cold Day Warning

Cold day conditions are expected to prevail in a few pockets of Bihar till today, 26th January, IMD said. Additionally, IMD forecasts a cold day to persist over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana during the next two to three days.

AQI, Weather Forecast For Delhi

A light rain shower on Wednesday night and Thursday morning shifted the AQI to ‘moderate’, significantly relieving Delhi’s residents from the worsening pollution. The city woke up to ‘moderate’ AQI at 188 as of 6 am for the second consecutive day on Sunday, January 26th. Though an improvement in the air quality was observed, the temperatures are likely to remain on the cooler side.

According to IMD, there has been a decline in minimum temperature up to 1°C in the national capital during the past 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi were recorded in the range of 22 to 24°C and 08 to 09°C respectively. The city will likely experience a clear weather till 28th January, 2025.
