IMD Weather Update: The weather across India is undergoing a series of changes due to Western Disturbances. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a western Disturbance, currently positioned as a trough extending from lower to upper tropospheric levels with its axis at 3.1 km above mean sea level roughly along Long. 56°E to the north of Lat. 24°N. Along with this, high moisture feeding is also likely to persist Western Himalayan Region in lower tropospheric levels from the Arabian Sea till 28th February 2025.
Here’s a breakdown of the upcoming weather conditions:
Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rain/snowfall: Western Himalayan Region (27th & 28th February). IMD forecasts a decrease in its intensity thereafter.
Heavy rain/snowfall: Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand (27th & 28th February)
Scattered to Fairly Widespread light to moderate rainfall: Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh (27th February to 1st March)
Isolated light to moderate rainfall: Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan (27th February to 1st March), Punjab & Haryana (27th & 28th February)
Upcoming weather conditions influenced by active easterly wave:
Scattered to Fairly widespread light/moderate rain: Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Kerala, and Mahe (27th February to 2nd March), Lakshadweep (1st & 2nd March)
According to IMD, a fresh Western Disturbance is expected to affect Northwest India starting from the 2nd of March. Under its influence:
Isolated to Scattered light/moderate rain/snowfall: Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand (2nd March & 4th March)
Isolated light/moderate rain/snowfall: Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh (3rd February)
Hot And Humid Weather
Hot and humid weather is very likely to prevail over Gujarat on the 27th of February and over Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka during 27th and 28th February.
