IMD Weather Update: The weather across North India is set to undergo a series of changes as a result of a fresh Western Disturbance brewing over north Iran & neighborhood. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a higher moisture feeding over the Western Himalayan Region starting from 25th to 28th February 2025.
Rain To Lash J&K, HP And Other States
Under its influence, fairly widespread light to moderate rain/snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms & lightning is expected over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Heavy rain at isolated places is also likely over these regions during this period.
Punjab, Haryana To receive Light To Moderate Rain
According to IMD, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh will receive isolated light to moderate rainfall from 26th February to 1st March 2025, while West Uttar Pradesh & Rajasthan will witness rain from 27th February to 1st March. Other affected states are West Rajasthan, East Uttar Pradesh, and East Rajasthan. Due to an active easterly wave, heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on the 25th and 26th of February.
Trough To Bring Rain Across North East States
IMD forecasts a trough extending from Gangetic West Bengal to south Chhattisgarh, coupled with an anti-cyclonic circulation over the north Bay of Bengal. Under its influence, the following condition is likely:
- – Isolated to Scattered light/moderate rainfall: Rain accompanied by thunderstorms, and lightning likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura on 24th February, 2025.
