IMD Weather Update: Weather patterns are set to experience significant changes as two fresh western disturbances are likely to affect Northwest India during 1st to 4th of February, 2025. Rain and Snowfall is expected sweep Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh starting Saturday, 1st February. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts Isolated to scattered rain and snowfall to affect daily activities on the 1st of February. The disturbance brewing over north India is likely to bring isolated to scattered to moderate rainfall over Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh from 1st to 4th February. The other affected regions include East Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.

Cyclonic Circulation Looming Over Northeast Assam
Meanwhile, the Met Body has warned against a cyclonic circulation looming over northeast Assam. Under its influence, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Meghalaya will experience rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning until tomorrow. Wet conditions are likely to persist in a few places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe from 30th Jan to 1st February due to an easterly wave.
Dense Fog In Uttar Pradesh
According to IMD’s latest update and data, dense fog is likely to engulf isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh during night and early morning hours till 31st January. Foggy conditions are also likely to persist in isolated pockets of Gangetic West Bengal till today. Coastal Odisha will experience similar conditions until 31st Jan, while Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Bihar may witness fog till 1st February.
Delhi Records ‘Very Poor’ AQI
The air quality in the national capital slipped into the ‘very poor’ category again, marking a sharp rise from the previous days. The AQI was recorded as 381 at 6 am on Thursday, January 30, 2025, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
In view of the plummeting pollution levels, after Delhi reached an alarming AQI on Wednesday, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has invoked all measures under Stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) with immediate effect. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts partly cloudy weather across the city till the 1st of February.
