IMD Weather Update: Punjab and its neighbouring region woke up to dense fog on Sunday morning disrupting daily life across the region. Visibility is likely to reduce to near-zero levels in isolated pockets of Rajasthan and East Uttar Pradesh during the morning and night hours on January 12.
The dense fog is likely to pose challenges for commuters in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh from January 14 to 16, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. Similar conditions are likely to persist in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, and East Uttar Pradesh till the 16th of January.
Additionally, Bihar, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Sub West Bengal, and Odisha will experience blocked visibility from January 13 to 15.
Rain/Thunderstorms/Hailstorm Alert
As a result of a fresh western disturbance, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, and lightning over Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam, and Meghalaya is predicted today. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation that lies over the Southwest & adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal is likely to bring heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal during the next 5 days. Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, and Kerala & Mahe will experience light to moderate rain till the 14th of January.
Another fresh western disturbance is expected to affect northwest India from the night of 14th January. Under its influence, Isolated rainfall/snowfall activity is likely over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh from January 15 to 17.
Cold Wave Conditions
According to IMD, the temperature is expected to dip in isolated pockets of Northernmost India till the next few days.
AQI, Weather Forecast For Delhi
A thick layer of blanket covered different parts of the national capital on Sunday morning. The Air Quality stood at 284 under the ‘poor’ category at 6 am.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a mostly clear sky over Delhi/NCR on January 13 and 14. According to IMD, there has been a rise in minimum temperature in the city up to 02°C during the past 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded in the range of 16 to 18°C and 8 to 9°C respectively.
