IMD Weather Update: Temperature Swings Continue Across India, East Rajasthan Braces For Heatwave -Check Forecast

As the mercury climbs across several regions, a mixed pattern of temperature changes is being observed across the country.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, temperatures have significantly shifted across various regions of India. As the mercury climbs across several regions, a mixed pattern of temperature changes is being observed across the country.

Temperature Forecast:

Northwest India: Maximum temperatures are expected to drop gradually by 2–3°C over the next 2–3 days, followed by a gradual increase of 2–3°C over the following 4 days. No major temperature change is expected in Uttar Pradesh over the next 24 hours, but a gradual rise of 2–4°C is likely in the next 5 days.

Temperatures are expected to remain stable over the next 24 hours in Eastern India, followed by a gradual increase of 4–5°C over the next 4 days. A gradual decline in temperatures by 1–3°C is likely over the next 3 days in Gujarat, with a subsequent rise of 2–3°C over the following 4 days. Temperatures are expected to rise gradually by 2–3°C over the next 4–5 days in Maharashtra. Heatwave is likely to be seen in Eastern Rajasthan.

According to IMD bulletin, "Minimum Temperature Departures (as oo 19-04-2025) are markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at isolated places over Haryana; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab; at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Rajasthan, Madhya Maharashtra; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Vidarbha, Marathwada; at a few places over Delhi, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Gujarat state; at isolated places over Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Assam & Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Chhattisgarh. These0020are below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at a few places over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha and normal over rest parts of the country (Fig. 4). Today, the lowest minimum temperature of 18.0°C is reported at Barabanki (East Uttar Pradesh) over the plains of the country."

These are markedly below normal (-5.1°C or less) at isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal; below normal (-3.0°C to-1.6°C) at many places over Jharkhand; at a few places over East Uttar Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands; at isolated places over West Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and normal over rest parts of the country (Fig. 2). Today, the highest maximum temperature of 44.7°C was reported at Nagpur(Sonegaon) (Vidarbha) over the country."
