IMD Weather Update: Tamil Nadu Braces For Heavy Rain, Cold Day Warning In HP; Dense Fog Expected Across India Till Mid-Jan

Ground frost conditions are likely to persist in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on the 14th of January.

IMD Weather Update: As the winter season intensifies, dense fog is expected to blanket different regions across India, creating a challenging situation for commuters and local people. Fog is likely to reduce visibility during the night/early morning hours in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh till the 15th of January.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also forecasted dense fog conditions in isolated pockets of West Rajasthan on January 15th, 17th & 18th and in East Rajasthan on 14th, 16th, 17th & 18th. Additionally, the Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura would experience similar conditions till the 16th of January.

Rain/Thunderstorms/Snow Alert

As a result of a cyclonic circulation, isolated heavy accompanied by thunderstorms, and lightning is very likely to affect isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal on January 14 and 15. Kerala & Mahe is expected to receive light to moderate rainfall till today.

A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from today night bringing isolated to scattered rainfall/snowfall over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh from January 16 to 19. Additionally, Rainfall activity is also likely in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh & East Rajasthan on the 15th and 16th of January.

Cold Day Alert

According to IMD, cold day conditions are very likely in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh on the 14th of January.

Ground Frost Warning

Ground frost conditions are likely to persist in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on the 14th of January.

Fishermen Warning

Fishermen are advised not to venture into the Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Comorin area from January 14 to 16.

AQI, Weather Forecast For Delhi

Delhi woke up to ‘poor’ air quality on Tuesday morning with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 247 at 6 am today, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). However, cold wave continues to grip the national capital with a dense layer of fog affecting visibility in different areas.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted isolated rainfall activity over Delhi and its neighbouring states on the 15th and16th of January. A fresh western disturbance is likely to influence parts of northwest India starting today. There has been a slight rise in minimum temperature over the city during the past 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi were recorded in the range of 16 to 17°C and 9 to 10°C respectively. Meanwhile, the Met Body forecasts a clear sky in the capital on January 14 and cloudy weather on January 15 and 16.
