IMD Weather Update: Tamil Nadu Brace For Heavy Rainfall, AQI Remains ‘Very Poor’ In Delhi

IMD has forecasted light to moderate rainfall at a few places accompanied with isolated thunderstorm and lightning over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe during 8th- 12th November.

IMD Weather Update: Tamil Nadu Brace For Heavy Rainfall, AQI Remains ‘Severe’ In Parts Of Delhi

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal today. Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) Chennai has also alerted about rainfall in various districts of Tamil Nadu accompanied with light thunderstorm and lightning. RMC in its daily weather bulletin said that light to moderate rain with thunderstorm and lightning will occur at one or two places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. Whereas heavy rain is expected to occur over Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavura and Pudukkottai districts of Tamil Nadu and Karaikal.

Weather Forecast For Chennai And Neighbourhood

Chennai will have partly cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain with thunderstorm and lightning has been predicted in some areas. Maximum temperature is likely to be 32-33°C and Minimum temperature is likely to be 25-26°C.

Rainfall Forecast

IMD has forecasted light to moderate rainfall at a few places accompanied with isolated thunderstorm and lightning over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe during 8th– 12th November.

Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema will receive isolated heavy rainfall during 11th -13th November.

Fog Conditions

IMD in its press release stated that isolated dense fog will prevail over Himachal Pradesh on 9th and 10th November in the morning hours.

Temperature Conditions And Forecast

IMD observed that there has been no significant change in minimum temperature over the country. However, it has predicted that minimum temperature is likely to gradually fall by 2-4°C over Western Himalayan Region during next 5 days. While no change in minimum temperature over remaining parts of the country has been forecasted during the week.

About the existing weather system, IMD said that a fresh low pressure area is likely to form over south west Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours.

Weather Forecast Over Delhi

IMD stated that there has been slight fall in maximum temperature over Delhi-NCR during past 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperature over Delhi are currently in the range of 30-32°C and 15-19°C respectively. Delhi will have mainly clear sky today. Smog/Shallow fog/mist will engulf the national capital in the morning. Smog/ mist is likely to prevail in the evening/night also.

AQI in Delhi: According to Central Pollution Control Board, Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi continues to be in ‘very poor’ category. AQI was recorded at 361 on Saturday at 6 am.

AQI recorded at other areas of Delhi are: Bawana (411), New Moti Bagh (409), Rohini (404), Wazirpur (400),Punjabi Bagh (398), Jahangirpuri (390), Patparganj (388), Lodhi Road (325), ITO (360), Mundka (380), Alipur (388), Anand Vihar (394), Ashok Vihar (385).
