The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for a sharp drop in temperatures, which is expected to lead to frosty conditions in the coming days.

Dense Fog Warning

Reduced visibility due to dense fog, especially during the early morning hours, has disrupted daily life, forcing residents stay indoors. IMD has predicted 'severe' dense fog conditions to prevail in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi-NCR, and Punjab until December 29. Similar weather conditions are likely to tighten its grip in isolated pockets of the western Himalayan region from the 23rd to the 27th. The other affected states are Bihar, Odisha, Rajasthan, north Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and north Madhya Pradesh.

Cold wave warning

In most parts of North India, people woke up to a nail-biting cold weather on Tuesday (December 23, 2025). West Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Jharkhand will continue to reel under chilly weather conditions this week. Meanwhile, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh will experience biting cold temperatures until December 26.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain/snowfall accompanied by snowstorms at isolated places over the higher reaches of Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, northeast Himachal Pradesh.

Delhi-NCR AQI, weather update

Delhi continues to choke under ‘toxic smog’ as air quality deteriorates to the 'severe' category on Tuesday. Amid thick haze blanketing the city, the AQI stood at 413 at 7 am today, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The conditions are expected to further worsen, and no respite is expected until Dec 25.
