Parts of North India woke up to a chill weather on Monday (December 22, 2025) as fog affected air and road travel. Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Delhi-NCR are experiencing a sharp drop in temperatures as nail-biting cold continues to tighten its grip.
Dense Fog Warning
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted 'severe' dense fog conditions to prevail during night and morning hours in parts of East Uttar Pradesh till December 23. Similar weather conditions are also likely in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh from the 25th to the 28th. Meanwhile, Bihar will experience dense fog on the 23rd and 24th; Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, till the 26th; and north Rajasthan, West Bengal, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha until the morning hours of December 23rd.

Cold wave warning
Cold wave conditions are expected to tighten its grip over several regions. North Interior Karnataka and Telangana will reel under chilly weather conditions on December 22 and 23. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh will experience biting cold temperatures for the next to days.

Heavy rain/snowfall to lash J&K, Himachal
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain/snowfall accompanied by snowstorms at isolated places over the higher reaches of Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, northeast Himachal Pradesh, during the next 24 hours.
Delhi-NCR AQI, weather update
Delhi continues to choke under 'toxic smog' as air quality plunged into the ‘very poor’ category on Monday, with a thick haze blanketing the city. The AQI stood at 366 at 7 am today, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The conditions are expected to further worsen, and no respite in air quality is expected until Dec 24.
