IMD Weather Update: Rainfall Alert For Kerala, Tamil Nadu! Dense Fog In UP, Punjab; Delhi’s AQI ‘Very Poor’

IMD Weather Update: Rainfall Alert For Kerala, Tamil Nadu! Dense Fog In UP, Punjab; Delhi’s AQI ‘Very Poor’

IMD Weather Update: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy rainfall over Kerala, Mahe, South Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam. It has also predicted dense fog conditions over night and early morning hours in isolated parts of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab. Fog and wintry conditions have started to prevail in northern parts of the country with dense fog reported from Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana etc.

About the existing weather system, IMD said that a low pressure area prevails over southwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal off north Tamil Nadu and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts. IMD said that a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region from 14th November, 2024.

IMD Weather Update: Rainfall Forecast

Southern states of India may receive heavy rainfall during this week. IMD has forecasted light to moderate rainfall at few places accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema during 12th-16th November, 2024.

IMD has alerted about isolated heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal during 13th -16th November, Kerala, Mahe during 13th -17th November, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema on 13th-14th November, South Interior Karnataka during 13th – 15th November, 2024.

Temperature Conditions And Forecast

IMD observed that there has been no significant change in minimum temperature over most parts of the country during past 24 hours. Rajasthan’s Ajmer recorded lowest minimum temperature of 12.4°C. IMD has said that no significant change in minimum temperatures will take place over northwest and central India during next 5 days. It added that there will be no change in minimum temperature over East India during 24 hours but gradual fall by 3-4°C  will be thereafter for subsequent 4 days.

IMD Weather Update: Forecast For Delhi

IMD stated that there has been slight rise in maximum and minimum temperature over Delhi/NCR during past 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperature over Delhi is in the range of 30-32°C and 14 -19°C respectively. Delhi will have mainly clear sky with Smog/mist/shallow fog in the morning. The predominant surface wind is likely to be from northwest direction with speed less than 08 kmph during morning hours.

AQI in Delhi: As per Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Air Quality Index in Delhi was recorded at 355 (Very Poor) at 7 am on Wednesday.

AQI recorded from other parts of Delhi: Anand Vihar (394), Jahangirpuri (384), Wazirpur (377), Rohini (372), Ashok Vihar (370), Mundka (366), Lodhi Road (307), Punjabi Bagh (377), Patparganj (361), Pusa (354), Vivek Vihar (358).

Delhi continues to be covered in a blanket of smog in the mornings as the air quality remains in ‘Very Poor’ category in the national capital.
