IMD Weather Update: As we approach the end of December, South India is set to experience rainfall accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms in a few isolated places. The affected areas include Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Additionally, the residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions as an active western disturbance is set to impact northwest India from the 26th of December.
Here’s a detailed forecast of the weather conditions expected to extend its effect through the weekend.
- Western Himalayan Region: Isolated to scattered rainfall/snowfall (Dec 27 and 28)
- Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra & Marathwada: Isolated to scattered rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning (Dec 26 and 27)
- Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh: December 27 to 28

Cold Wave Warning Across North India
IMD has predicted severe cold wave conditions across northern states due to a significant dip in temperature in the coming days. A cold day warning has been issued for Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on December 25 and 26.
Dense Fog Alert In Seven Sister States
According to IMD’s latest update and data, dense fog conditions are expected to impact travel and cause daily disruptions during late night and early morning hours in Rajasthan, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.
Ground Frost Warning For HP
Ground Frost conditions are expected in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh until December 26.
Fishermen Warning
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the west-central & adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal, south Andhra Pradesh, north Tamil Nadu coasts, and Puducherry coasts today (Dec 25, 2024).
IMD Weather Forecast, AQI For Delhi
Delhi experienced a rise in minimum temperature up to 01°C during the past 24 hours. The maximum and
minimum temperatures across the city were recorded as 17 to 19°C and 09 to 10°C respectively. The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded as 333 on Wednesday under the ‘very poor’ category at 8 am.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the following AQIs were reported in different parts of Delhi as of 8 am today: Alipur (328), Rohini (380), ITO (322), Ashok Vihar (372), Wajirpur (385), Shadipur (326), Mundka (394), Jahangirpuri (377), Narela (325), DTU (277), R.K. Puram (356), Anand Vihar (360), and Punjabi Bagh (431).
