IMD Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rain at a few places accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema from December 23 to 26. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are likely to receive isolated heavy rainfall on Dec 25 and 26. Additionally, IMD has forecast light to moderate downpours over coastal Odisha on December 24 and 24.
According to IMD’s latest information and data, an intense western disturbance is likely to affect Northwest India during the night hours of December 26. IMD has warned against a cyclonic circulation expected to form over southwest Rajasthan and its neighborhood on December 27. Under its influence, the Western Himalayan Region is expected to receive isolated to scattered rainfall/snowfall from Dec 26 to 28. Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and hailstorms is also likely to occur over northwest India plains & adjoining central India on Dec 27 and 28. Maharashtra and Gujarat will face similar weather conditions on December 28.

Cold Wave, Dense Fog & Ground Frost Warning
Severe cold wave conditions are very likely to prevail in some parts of Himachal Pradesh from December 24 to 26. Additionally, the cold wave is also expected to severely affect isolated pockets of Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad till December 26.
IMD predicted dense fog conditions during late night and early morning hours in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh on Dec 24 to 26. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura may face dense fog till December 24. Additionally, Punjab and Haryana are expected to endure similar conditions from Dec 23 to 25.
Ground Frost conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh from Dec 24 to 26. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura may face similar conditions till the 24th of December.
Fishermen Warnings
Fishermen are advised not to venture into west-central & adjoining central parts of the South Bay of Bengal as well as south Andhra Pradesh & north Tamil Nadu coasts from Dec 23 to 25.
IMD Weather Forecast For Delhi
Delhi’s temperature dipped to 9°C on Monday morning (December 23). Meanwhile, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded as 410 under the ‘severe’ category at 6 am.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the following AQIs were reported in different parts of Delhi as of 7 am today: Okhla Phase 2 (425), Alipur (437), Rohini (426), ITO (412), Ashok Vihar (456), Wajipur (460), Shadipur (374), Mundka (442), Jahangirpuri (448), Narela (430), DTU (425), R.K. Puram (427), Anand Vihar (439), Pusa (387), and Punjabi Bagh (420).
