IMD Weather Update: Rain, Thunderstorms To Hit Tamil Nadu And Kerala From April 9 To 12 – Check Forecast For Other States

Due to an active fresh disturbance, states including Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will likely receive light showers from 9th to 11th April and over plains of Northwest India on 10th April.

IMD Weather Update: Southern states such as Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh have been experiencing rainfall over the past few days. Residents are advised to brace for more rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (speed 40 to 50 Kmph) from 9th to 12th April 2025. The affected regions include Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Kerala & Mahe, Telangana, and Karnataka.

Light Showers Over East And Northeast India

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate showers with strong surface winds over East and Northeast India over the next few days. Additionally, a warning has been issued against isolated hailstorms over Bihar and Jammu-Kashmir on the 9th of April. The rainfall is attributed to two troughs extending from southeast Uttar Pradesh to North Bangladesh and South Interior Karnataka.

Heavy Rain To Lash Assam, Arunachal Pradesh

A heatwave has begun in many states, such as Gujarat, Rajasthan, etc. Amid the rising temperatures, a heavy rain alert has been issued for isolated places in Assam & Meghalaya on the 9th, 10th and over Arunachal Pradesh on 10th April. Meanwhile, talking about the weather conditions in the last 24 hours, thunderstorms with squally winds prevailed over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala & Mahe, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana, and Karnataka.

Fresh Western Disturbance, Low-Pressure

Due to an active fresh disturbance, states including Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will likely receive light showers from 9th to 11th April and over plains of Northwest India on 10th April. According to IMD’s latest press release, a low-pressure Area over southwest & adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal is likely to move north-northwestward during the next 24 hours over west central Bay of Bengal. Thereafter, it is likely to recurve north-northeastwards and weaken gradually over the central Bay of Bengal during the subsequent 24 hours.
