IMD Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain at a few places accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on December 24 to 25. Coastal Odisha may receive isolated heavy rainfall till tomorrow. Additionally, light to moderate rainfall is expected over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on Dec 25 and 26.
According to IMD’s latest information and data, an intense western disturbance is likely to impact western Himalayan region and adjoining plains from 26th of December 2024 onwards. IMD has warned against scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over north-west India on December 27. Rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and hailstorms is also likely to batter Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada on December 27. Maharashtra and Gujarat will receive scattered to fairly widespread showers from December 26 to 28.
Cold Wave, Dense Fog & Ground Frost Warning
Severe cold wave conditions will likely prevail in some parts of Himachal Pradesh until December 26. Additionally, the cold wave is also expected to severely affect isolated pockets of Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad from December 24 to 26.
IMD predicted dense fog conditions during late night and early morning hours in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh from Dec 24 to 27. Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura may face dense fog till December 26. Similar conditions will endure in Rajasthan from Dec 28 to 30.
Ground Frost conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh from Dec 24 to 26. Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh may face similar conditions till the 25th of December.
Fishermen Warnings
Fishermen are advised not to venture into west-central & adjoining central parts of the South Bay of Bengal as well as south Andhra Pradesh, north Tamil Nadu coasts and Puducherry coasts from Dec 24 to 25.
IMD Weather Forecast For Delhi
The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded as 401 on Tuesday under the ‘severe’ category at 7 am as temperature dipped in the capital.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the following AQIs were reported in different parts of Delhi as of 7 am today: Okhla Phase 2 (408), Alipur (421), Rohini (451), ITO (402), Ashok Vihar (440), Wajipur (442), Shadipur (360), Mundka (463), Jahangirpuri (424), Narela (413), DTU (392), R.K. Puram (424), Anand Vihar (422), and Punjabi Bagh (431).
