IMD Weather Update: Rain, Thunderstorm Warning Across Multiple States; Strong Winds To Hit Odisha, Delhi And More

The Weather Department has issued a warning for heavy rain over multiple regions. Additionally, significant traffic or flight disruptions may occur in different parts of the country till the 8th of May due to rain, lightning, strong winds, and thunderstorms.

IMD Weather Update: Heavy rain swept through Uttarakhand, Interior Karnataka, and Kerala over the past 24 hours. Amidst the ongoing climatic changes, several states experienced respite as the temperature took a sharp dip due to rainy conditions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that the severe weather would continue for the next few days. Notably, Odisha will witness an Intense downpour accompanied by hailstorms today, 4th May, 2025.

Rain To Lash Odisha, Bihar And…

As per IMD’s latest weather update, several regions are set to be hit by rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds till 6th May. These affected places include Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, winds reaching alarming speeds up to 60 Km/h, accompanied by light showers, are likely to lash Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan from 4th to 9th May.

Heavy Rain Warning

The Weather Department has issued a warning for heavy rain over multiple regions. The affected regions, expected to witness torrential rain, are southwest Rajasthan on 6th and 7th May; Kerala, Mahe on 6th & 07th; Tamil Nadu on 5th & 6th May; Gujarat on 7th & 8th May; Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh on 5th and 8th May.

According to IMD, strong surface winds, gusting to 70 Km/h would persist across different parts of India over the next few days – West Madhya Pradesh (5th & 6th May); Madhya Pradesh, Odisha (4th); Bihar (5th May); Uttarakhand (Till 6th); Punjab, Haryana Chandigarh, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh (4th & 5th); East
Uttar Pradesh (5th May); South Interior Karnataka (4th & 5th May); North Interior Karnataka (6th & 7th May); Gujarat (6th & 7th) and Madhya Maharashtra & Marathawada (7th May).

Thunderstorms, Rain, Lightning Warning

Significant traffic or flight disruptions may occur in different parts of the country till the 8th of May due to rain, lightning, strong winds, and thunderstorms. The affected areas include Gujarat, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Kerala & Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
