The India Meteorological Department has issued a weather forecast highlighting the impact of a Western Disturbance over the Western Himalayan region, bringing widespread rainfall and snowfall to several areas today and in the coming days. A Western Disturbance, observed as a trough extending from the lower to upper tropospheric levels, is expected to cause fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall and snowfall over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh on March 4. Isolated thunderstorms and lightning are also likely in these areas. Uttarakhand is expected to receive isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall and snowfall on March 4.
Fresh Western Disturbance From March 9
The IMD has predicted another Western Disturbance that will impact the Western Himalayan region from March 9. Under its influence, isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall and snowfall are expected over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on the same day.
Temperature Forecast
Rajasthan will experience a gradual drop in maximum temperatures by 2-3°C over the next three days, followed by a rise of 2-3°C in the subsequent two days. Gujarat will see no significant change in maximum temperatures over the next 24 hours, but a gradual decline of 2-3°C is expected afterward. The rest of India will witness stable maximum temperatures with no significant changes over the next 4-5 days.
According to the IMD, hot and humid weather conditions are likely over Konkan and Goa from March 4 to 6. Similar conditions are expected over Karnataka from March 4 to 7.
