IMD Weather Update: While many regions across the country continue to face the wrath of heat, some states are experiencing respite due to rain. Places like Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, etc, have been witnessing rainfall for the past few days due to a western disturbance. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported gusty winds at isolated locations over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladkah, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab over the past 24 hours.
Forecast For Rain, Strong Surface Winds
IMD forecasts strong surface winds with a speed of 20 to 30 kmph, reaching up to 40 kmph at isolated places across Northwest India today, 29th March. Additionally, a trough extending from Bihar to Assam is expected to bring light showers accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim on Saturday.

Rain To Lash Southern Regions
Another trough running from North Interior Karnataka to south Tamil Nadu will bring light to moderate rainfall from 29th March to 1st April. The affected states are Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan & Goa. Marathawada will witness rain on 1st April, while Kerala & Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Coastal Karnataka, and South Interior Karnataka on 31st March and 1st April. Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam will likely receive rain from 30th March to 1st April.
Heat Wave, Hot & Humid Weather Warning
According to IMD, heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets of interior Odisha from 28th to 30th March. Meanwhile, hot and humid weather conditions will persist in isolated pockets of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal on 29th March, and coastal areas of Gujarat from 30th March to 1st April.
