IMD Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted isolated very heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema on December 19. Additionally, heavy rain is expected to lash Kerala on December 18 and 19 and isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands & Lakshadweep in the coming days.

Weather Systems
IMD said that a western disturbance seen as a trough in middle and upper tropospheric westerlies runs roughly along Long. 55°E to the north of Lat. 30°N. The met body also warned against a cyclonic circulation that lies over central Pakistan & adjoining the Jammu division in lower tropospheric levels.
Cold Wave And Dense Fog Forecast
Severe cold wave conditions are very likely in isolated pockets of Madhya Pradesh today. Additionally, the cold wave is also expected to affect Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Rajasthan, and Muzaffarabad on Dec 16.
Additionally, Vidarbha, Odisha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Saurashtra & Kutch, and Telangana may face severe cold wave conditions starting December 16.
IMD has predicted dense fog conditions during late night and early morning hours in isolated pockets of Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab Uttar Pradesh until December 17. Also, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura may experience dense fog today.
Fishermen Warnings
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the Andaman Sea, Southeast & adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal on Dec 16 and the Comorin area from Dec 16 to 18. Also, IMD said they must avoid going to the South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Somalia Coast, and West-central Arabian Sea on Dec 16 and 17.
IMD Weather Forecast For Delhi
Delhi experienced a dip in minimum temperature up to 7°C on Monday. The overall AQI in the national capital was recorded at 348 at 9 am under the ‘very poor’ category.
AQI: According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the following AQIs were reported in different parts of Delhi as of 6 am today: Okhla Phase 2 (358), Alipur (347), Rohini (387), ITO (370), Ashok Vihar (377), Wajipur (386), Shadipur (340), Mundka (377), Jahangirpuri (393), Narela (309), DTO (326), R.K. Puram (372), Anand Vihar (392), Pusa (334), and Punjabi Bagh (404).
