IMD Weather Update: With the shift in weather patterns, the southern states are bracing for rainfall accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms in the last week of December. Among the affected places are Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has advised the residents to stay alert and avoid going out frequently as an active western disturbance is likely to impact different parts of India starting from the 27th of December.

- Western Himalayan Region: Scattered to fairly widespread rain/Snowfall on December 27 and 28.

- Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha & Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra & Marathwada: Dec 26 to 27

Cold Wave Warning In Northern States
IMD has predicted severe cold wave conditions across North India during the last week of December. A cold day warning has been issued for Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh today (Dec 26, 2024).
IMD Issues Fog Alert
According to IMD’s latest update and data, dense fog conditions are expected to reduce visibility and cause significant disruptions during late night and early morning hours in Rajasthan from December 28 to 31st. Additionally, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Assam, and Meghalaya will experience similar conditions till 29th of December.

Ground Frost conditions are expected in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh on December 26.
AQI, Weather Forecast For Delhi
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert in the city till Sunday, warning of thunderstorms, rain, and dense fog due to a fresh western disturbance. Delhi woke up to ‘very poor’ air quality on Thursday as the AQI was recorded as 342 at 7 am.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the following AQIs were reported in different parts of Delhi as of 7 am today: Okhla Phase – 2 (369), Rohini (377), ITO (339), Ashok Vihar (361), Wajirpur (367), Shadipur (319), Mundka (394), Jahangirpuri (375), Narela (327), DTU (296), R.K. Puram (356), Anand Vihar (369), and Punjabi Bagh (363).
